First aid is crucial in the catering industry. Countless injuries that can occur in an industrial kitchen include slippages, burns and accidents with heavy machinery. However, the most common injury that can take place even in a small restaurant kitchen is a surface cut.

While such cuts are relatively minor in a first aid context, they must be dealt with in a careful manner. Any amount of blood in food being served is obviously unacceptable and cuts should be treated immediately, if the individual is to go on cooking.

Because there aren't many foods that are blue, blue catering plasters can be easily spotted should they fall off.
